History of Queen's College AFC

Queen's are a college which has enjoyed intermittent success over the years, winning Cuppers 5 times in total, the first time being in 1910. It was to be 52 years until Queen's were to win the trophy again in 1962 and two further successes were recorded in 1976/77 and 1977/78. The last of Queen's Cuppers wins was in 1992, when after a goalless final, Queen's won the first penalty shoot-out to decide Cuppers, 4-3 against Keble. Since that time there have been few highlights for Queen's, the exception being the Premier division championship winning side of 2004/05 - however the success was short-lived; the following season the defending champions, deprived of many of their best players such as Hazzard , Gorrie , Butterfield and Nikbin on university duty for much of the season suffered the ignominy of relegation with less than a third of the points total of the previous year. This was compounded by further relegation the following season.
